What are Dynamic Fields?

Custom dynamic fields are similar to the “Recipient Name” field: The information that will be displayed inside those fields will change for each one of your recipients and must be mapped by you when adding the recipient information.

Common use cases for dynamic fields are:

  • Date of completion;
  • Grade awarded;
  • Student ID;
  • Etc.;

For example, if you have the same course taking place every 3 months, you can simply add the date of completion as a dynamic field. By doing this, you can keep one certificate activated for that course, and just upload the new recipient list every time the course takes place.

How to add Dynamic Fields

By default, there are no dynamic fields present in the templates from the Virtualbadge.io template gallery, so you will always have to manually add these fields to your certificates.

Just choose “Add Dynamic Field” from your element menu. You will be able to see your field directly in the “Dynamic Fields” section.

You can name your dynamic field as you want. The name that you give this field will not be displayed in the actual certificates that you issue. Simply give it a name that you will be able to identify when mapping the field.

How to map information to Dynamic Fields

Now that you have added dynamic fields to the design of your certificate, you must map the information that must be displayed in those fields for each one of your recipients.

You can prepare the CSV file with your recipient information and add one extra column for each dynamic field of your certificate:

Now, from the tab “Recipients”, simply upload your CSV file. You can also choose to manually add each recipient, or you can use Zapier or our API to automate this workflow.

Now you can just map each column of your CSV file to the correct column inside your certificate.

And that is it! Now you can proceed with sending your digital certificates. Each person will receive a link to claim their own personal certificate via email.
