Why do some recipients show "Delivered" for email status, but "Claimed" for certificate status?
Possible explanations for this behavior
- The certificate link was shared from the admin dashboard
An administrator may have manually copied the recipient’s token link from the dashboard and shared it directly with the recipient (for example, via chat or another email), or may have opened it themselves for testing purposes. In this case, the certificate or badge can be claimed without the original email having been opened, or without it having been sent. - The recipient’s email client blocks tracking
Virtualbadge.io uses a tracking pixel (an invisible image) in the email to detect when an email is opened. Some email clients block images by default, or the recipient might have disabled image loading. When this happens, the tracking pixel is not loaded, so the system does not register the email as opened, even though the recipient actually opened it and clicked the link to claim the certificate. - Other distribution methods are used
Another exception occurs when a different distribution software is in place. For example, when the client copies the token and uses our API or an integration such as Zapier to distribute the access links, without relying on the email servers from Virtualbadge.io. In this case as well, the certificate or badge can be claimed without the original email having been opened.
